Meet Demira Hymes, LMSW

Demira Hymes is a Charleston, South Carolina–based author, Licensed Master Social Worker, and founder of Beyond Blessed Publishing. Her storytelling focuses on healing, growth, resilience, relationships, and the experiences that shape our lives.

With a background in education and social work, Demira has witnessed firsthand the importance of helping young people understand their emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and discover the power of their voices. These experiences inspired her to create the Jonah Series, beginning with Jonah's Bad Day and continuing with Jonah's Brave Voice. Through relatable characters and meaningful lessons, her children's books encourage conversations that extend beyond the page.

Demira's passion for storytelling also extends into adult fiction. Her debut novel, Blood Brothers, explores friendship, brotherhood, loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences of life's choices. The novel represents a new chapter in her writing journey and a story she has been developing for years.

Through Beyond Blessed Publishing, Demira hopes to create stories that entertain, inspire meaningful conversations, and connect with readers across generations.

When she isn't writing or supporting students and families, Demira enjoys spending time with her husband and sons.
